Midwifery Program

Frontier Nursing University is a private, non-profit, non-residential graduate school of nursing offering community-based, distance education programs leading to the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, the Master of Science in Nursing Degree and/or post-graduate certificates in advanced practice nursing specialties. Our mission is to provide accessible nurse-midwifery and nurse practitioner education to prepare competent, entrepreneurial, ethical, and compassionate leaders in primary care to serve all individuals with an emphasis on women and families in diverse, rural, and under-served populations.

The midwifery program has both 2 and 3 year options, with admissions 4 times per year and approximately 320 admissions to the midwifery program annually. With an emphasis on undeserved and rural populations, the clinical sites are primarily community-based: offices, hospital, birth center, home birth. For this inter-professional education project, midwifery students are learning together in selected activities with Ob-gyn residents from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA and Reading/Tower Health System in Reading, PA.
