The ACNM-ACOG Maternity Care Education and Practice Redesign is a joint project of the American College of Nurse-Midwives and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, funded by the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation.

Led by past presidents of both organizations, the project has the following goals:

  1. Develop and implement a model curriculum of interprofessional education for graduate midwifery students and ob-gyn residents so that both types of professionals are ready to practice in collaborative settings.
  2. Align accreditation criteria and core interprofessional educational competencies for ob-gyn residents and graduate midwifery students.
  3. Find solutions to site-specific barriers to fully implementing IPE curricula in maternity care training centers.
  4. Increase the number of midwifery graduates.
